What Is PRF?
PRP (platelet rich plasma) is blood plasma that has concentrated platelets. We get this product by drawing up some of your blood and putting it in a centrifuge machine, which will separate the blood based on particle size. PRF (platelet rich fibrin) is a purer form of this liquid, even more concentrated, and is acquired through the same method but using different speeds in the centrifuge. When this liquid is injected under the skin it causes the formation of a fibrin mesh and growth factors to be released. This causes tissue regeneration and recruitment of stem cells to the area. The result is promotion of local tissue growth and repair of damaged tissue. The growth and repair can continue for up to 1-2 months after the injections. The best part is that since we are using your own blood product, there are no adverse reactions. This is a natural and nontoxic way to rejuvenate the skin.

PRF has many uses. It can be used for acne scarring by direct injection into the affected area, intradermal or subdermal. PRF can also be used in combination with or as a substitute for dermal fillers for the lips, cheeks, chin, tear trough, or nasolabial folds. It can also be injected intradermally, especially the forehead, to improve skin texture and even out skin tone. PRF is also commonly use with microneedling to improve skin texture and laxity. This can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. PRF is also commonly used for hair loss through direct injection to the scalp or in combination with microneedling. It can take several sessions, but the results are promising. Other uses include in orthopedic medicine and for sexual dysfunction.

PRF can be used alone or with other treatments and has little to no recovery time. The treatments can be targeted to certain areas if needed. The results are astonishing and is a great option for those who prefer a more natural alternative.
